FAN LETTERS

Me and my dad from the UK recently met you and Tommy initially outside having a smoke at the Holiday Inn in Lubbock on the 8^th Sept. If you remember you both then kindly asked us to join you for a little jamming session or guitar war against the cowboy musicians in the back of the bar. Here are 2 pictures to jog your memory:

First of all it was great to meet you and Tommy and for me a huge Buddy fan, guitarist and historian to meet Tommy was just right up there, but to meet you too was a big bonus and I was very impressed. Both my dad and I really enjoyed yours and Tommy’s performance and I think your comic acts whilst the country jam session was going on were very funny, you should do stand up at the comedy club in LA one day the God father was good.

We both really want to say thank you to both of you and if you are both ever in the UK, make sure you let me know and we will come and see you and if you ever play where I live in Northampton, again although you probably would not entertain this, I would gladly show you around in my 57 Chevy Belair and Jam with you again on a few Holly songs.

I would very much like to keep in contact with you and Tommy and would like to know if you can let me have Tommy’s email address so I can thank him personally.

In the meantime I also need yours and Tommy’s address so that as agreed we can send you a DVD of that night with you and Tommy and you were going to send me a DVD of you and Tommy at the Surf this year. I wish you all the best in the possible movie, and I hope you and Tommy get to the UK sometime. I will try and get to the Surf next February; I have never been before so it will be cool.

I hope to hear from you, please if I don’t get to have Tommy’s email address then please pass on my profound thanks to him for giving up his time along with yours to play some songs and allow us to join your group of friends in the Bar you made our trip very special and well worth the 10000 miles and a lot of cash.

PS. What was Tommy’s acoustic guitar called, as that is the best acoustic I have ever played?

I just wanted to let Johnny know how much I enjoyed meeting him, taking his photo, getting his autograph, and most of all, watching his magnificent performance here in Lubbock on September 9th. If I would have been blind, I would swear that the real Buddy Holly was in the courtyard singing. WOW! And it's uncanny how much Johnny looked like Buddy. Larry Holley was so right when he said that Johnny is the best Buddy impersonator ever. The whole event was superb. Also, I wanted to say "thank you" to Johnny when he gave me a chair to sit in (He was against the train depot wall, and I was with Tinker Carlen). Anyway, I look forward to seeing Johnny (and Bill Black, I think was the bass players name) back here next year. God bless...

I have attended two of Johnny's concerts and loved them. He is great. Such a nice guy. He is a really good performer and I enjoy seeing him perform along with his band. I wish Johnny and his band the best in their career. Hope to see you all at George Daily Auditorium in Oskaloosa, IA. again.

This past Labor Day weekend was my birthday and I was able to spend it with Johnny Rogers watching and listening to him perform at one of the local honky tonks and at the George Daily Auditorium in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Saturday was my birthday so that night was a little more special. We were able to dance and talk to Johnny. Having him sing “Happy Birthday” to me was the absolute best!!! I went with some of my friends and they all thought he was just unbelievable, (which he is). On Sunday night his performance was just as great but just in a different atmosphere. My 8 year old daughter thought it was great when he dedicated her favorite song to her, “Maybe Baby”. The look on her face was priceless!!!! My parents also attended the performance that night. My dad sings and plays the guitar and he was totally amazed at what a performance this was. He told me that Johnny is unbelievable and is so talented. I have also seen Johnny at the What Cheer Opera House on 2 other occasions. Every time I see him perform I think that I think he is even better than the last. Not only is he a great performer, he is also very nice, friendly and down to earth person. I am definitely hooked on “Johnny Rogers”. My friends and I can’t wait to go see him again. Attached is a picture of me and Johnny at the local honky tonk. It was a birthday I will never forget.

I have had the pleasure of seeing Johnny Rogers 4 times now and I am still awestruck by the musical talent of this man. His energy, diversity, talent and personality are just something to behold. He is “Mr. Entertainment” in my opinion. In August, when Johnny opened for the Nelsons, Pam Taylor, the owner of the 1965 GTO and I, had the opportunity to take Johnny and his drummer for a ride in this beautiful GTO. We took them up and down the streets of What Cheer, IA and Johnny sang to us the whole time. His graciousness to us will always be remembered. We were the talk of the town!!!! On Saturday night, September 2, I had the opportunity to see him at a “honky tonk” and was just blown away by his performance. Seeing him in a different setting like that just made me “fall in love” with this man!!!! The next night was his performance at the George Dailey Auditorium in Oskaloosa, Iowa and it was just FANTASTIC. There really are no words to describe his performance!!!! AWESOME, FANTASTIC, ENERGETIC – and that’s not even enough!!!! I turned 60 the day after the show and I have to say that seeing Johnny two nights in a row was the best birthday present I could have received!!!! I felt like he was singing just to me and actually, a younger woman I was with said that “he was singing to me”. I was taken back in time to those wonderful “rock and roll” years and the music just brought back so many memories. I have been to quite a few shows in my time and the show put on my Johnny Rogers is absolutely the best I have ever seen!!!! Again, the talent he has is just awesome. You’ve either got it or you don’t and Johnny has definitely “GOT IT”. Thank you Johnny for two wonderful shows on Sept. 2 and 3 and for making an “older woman” feel young and “falling in love again.” It was the best birthday weekend I have ever had!!!!!

I had a chance to see the Johnny Roger Band last Friday night--wow--what a show! Love that bass player!
